How to use Keytag, Key Card, Badge, or Passwords to pull up a customer's account using their Kiosk ID

Tan-Link also allows the creation of custom gift cards, key cards, and access cards. Customer accounts or gift card balances can be scanned into the system by using pre-generated codes from physical gift cards. 

If you want to use key cards, you will need to update the kiosk ID for each customer with a key card. The Kiosk ID will work as the account ID and automatically pull the customer's account linked to that card when scanned/swiped. 

Almost anything can be a Kiosk ID. You can scan the customer's license (if the state issues a license with a barcode), credit card, or anything else that has a barcode or magnetic stripe on it.

You can also set a plastic card's number/scan code as a customer's Kiosk ID. 

To set each card as the customer's key, please go to the customer's account and click on ACCOUNT CHANGES > Update Customer Kiosk ID. If you have a barcode on your Keytag or Badge, scan that when requested to enter the ID. Each Kiosk ID must be set uniquely on the customer's accounts. If the same card/code was used as the Kiosk ID for multiple customers, only the first matching account will pull up when you look for it.

To find the customer by Kiosk ID, either search for the ID in the Find Member box on top, or if you have a barcode reader then click inside the Find Member box and then scan to pull up the account.

When having these cards printed by your preferred printing company, you can specify the starting card number without any leading or training data.

For security reasons, Tan-Link stores a 'signature' of the card, not the actual card information for identifying the card, so no information is available from the card itself except that we can verify its the same card.
