Types of Packages
EFT Packages are one of the most important parts of a business as they drive revenue.
EFTs or Monthly Billing packages are membership packages that will automatically draft a recurring monthly charge until they are canceled.
If a customer is already on an EFT membership, no other EFTs can be sold on that account.
You can add a monthly charge and any other services not included in the existing EFT by selling an add-on package on the same account. ADD-ON EFT packages exist to overcome the restriction in Tan-Link that a customer may NOT be on more than one EFT.
This is most commonly used by salons with multiple areas of business. Example: If a business offers both tanning and red light, the customer could sell an EFT for tanning and have the red light as an add-on.
An Add-On EFT will add to the existing EFT draft amount. This amount will be drafted automatically along with the monthly EFT charge on the same day every month and will remain on the account until they are canceled.
Once sold, the add-on will add to the existing EFT draft. If you need to cancel an EFT with an add-on, you will need to delete the add-on and then proceed with the EFT cancellation.
How to Create a New Add-On EFT Package
You can create Add-On EFTs under Packages> Update Packages.
To create a new package, you can select an existing prepaid or walk-in package and select the Copy Package option at the bottom of the page.
You will be prompted to enter the New Package Name.
Once the name is added, you can press Enter on your keyboard and refresh the page to see your new package on the list. You can use the search bar at the top to find it and click on it.
The Add-On can now be selected and edited as needed. The first step is to click on the Package Details/Description tab. Here, you will need to select the ADD-ON EFT Option for Package Type.
Any other package description and details can also be edited on this page. You can refer to the guide below on what this section includes. Package Details Guide
When the setup is complete for add-on packages, they will be displayed in the Prepaid Section.
Pricing and Monthly Drafts for Add-On EFT Packages.
The price you enter under Pricing, Commissions, and Agreements for the Add-On package will determine how much will the customer be charged in addition to the recurring EFT monthly charge.
The price and tax entered here will be added to the EFT draft amount and billed accordingly.
No extra fees or other EFT draft amounts should be entered here.
Equipment Access for Add-On EFT Packages.
Equipment access must be configured with a Session Name and Equipment access for all Add-On packages in the Equipment Access, Sessions, and Expiration tab. Here you will use the corresponding options to determine what equipment the customer will be allowed after purchasing this package.
Package 1: Enter the package name to display on a customer's account. This will identify the Add-On from other packages. You can include "Add-On" in the name.
Beds In Package 1: Select any beds that are NOT included on the existing EFT and will be allowed with this add-on.
Number of sessions: You can leave this empty if unlimited access is allowed. By adding a number of sessions, they will be added upon a successful draft and at the time this package is purchased.
Sessions reset every month and do not roll over.
Alternatively, you can use Equipment Access for EFT to allow unlimited access to the existing Groups/Levels with this add-on. If EFT Groups were set to Unlimited, then the list of Beds In Package 1 will no longer be required and can be left without any selection.
***Please note that even if EFT Groups are used instead of specific bed access, you are still required to add a package name in Package 1. This will allow the add-on package to be displayed on a customer's account.
See our guide below for more informagion on the settings you can edit from the Equipment Access, Sessions, and Expiration page. https://tan-link.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4412648864013-How-to-Add-or-Update-Packages-in-Tan-Link-7-of-8-Equipment-Access-Sessions-and-Expiration
Selling an add-on EFT package
Only customers with an existing EFT membership should purchase add-on packages. Please ensure your customer is already on an EFT membership prior to selling an add-on EFT package.
If for any reason the add-on package is sold to a walk-in customer, the package will disappear and there will be no automatic draft.
You can prevent staff from selling add-on packages to walk-in customers by restricting the purchase of add-ons to EFT members only. Any other customers will be blocked from purchasing add-ons.
Go to Packages> Update packages and select the desired Add-on package.
Then click on the Automatic Add-ons and Restrictions tab and go to the "Restricted To EFTs" section.
You will select from the list of EFT memberships and only check the ones that should allow an add-on package purchase. Any customers NOT on the selected EFTs will be blocked from buying this add-on.
Please make sure you use the "Restricted To EFTs" option instead of "Restricted to Existing Packages" The Existing packages option will only list Walkin/prepaid packages and will prevent EFT members from purchasing this add-on if used.
Please review our guide below for more information on the Automatic Add-ons and Restrictions tab.

Prorated amounts when selling add-on packages.
By default, the system will NOT prorate add-on packages when sold. When prorate is disabled, the customer will pay full price on the purchase date regardless of the draft date. Then the full amount will also be drafted automatically on the next draft date.
You can contact support to enable the prorate option for add-on packages. When prorate is enabled, the system will only charge a prorated amount whenever add-on packages are purchased.
The proration is based on the number of days from the purchase date until the next draft date and calculates the amount to pay today, based on the package price and the number of days until the next draft date. The full package price is then charged on the next draft date along with the EFT draft amount.
You will see the prorated amount to pay today when searching for the add-on package and during the transaction. The customer will only pay for the amount listed as $ Today. The rest of the information displayed is for informational purposes only.
Identifying the New Draft Amount
Once the add-on package has been sold on a customer's account, a new package box will display the add-on package name, the number of sessions, the date it was sold or activated, and the next draft amount (Package Price).
***Please note that the draft amount displayed is only the Add-on portion of the total. This amount will be added to the EFT draft amount and the total is displayed on top of the customer's home page. This information is visible along with the Membership Description and will show the sum of any add-on packages plus the EFT monthly draft.
This is the amount your customers can expect to be drafted every month moving forward. You will be able to see the total, including EFT and add-on packages on the customer's main page.
Please refer to this section when reviewing draft amounts for customers on EFTs + Add-on packages.
Also, the next draft amount displayed for all customers in the Monthly draft report (Pending) will only show the normal EFT draft amount without the add-on fees. This does not mean the wrong amounts will be drafted.
Any add-On EFTs will draft accordingly regardless of the draft amount displayed in this report.
***Please review each customer account where an add-on was sold to determine the actual draft amount.
Freezing an Add-on EFT package
If you need to freeze an EFT with an existing add-on package, you will need to delete the add-on before moving forward with the freeze order. This will prevent the customer from using the equipment access from the add-on during a freeze. If the EFT membership is resumed, you will need to sell the add-on package again.
See our guide on EFT freezes below:

Removing an Add-on EFT Package
An Add-on can be removed by using the CHANGE button inside the Addon package box or you can simply trash the package box just like any other package. This option may be restricted to Managers or Admins only. Please contact support to allow staff to trash Packages.
Prepay EFT with an existing add-on package.
Currently, a prepay EFT order will only collect the EFT draft amount without any add-on fees. In order to charge the customer for both packages, we recommend processing a Prepay EFT and then a Misc payment to cover the add-on fees.
Please make sure you process the Prepay EFT order first. This will cover the monthly EFT draft and push the next draft date for the EFT and Add-on accordingly. Then, once the next draft date is updated for the EFT, you will make a miscellaneous payment for the price of the add-on package only.
